Dive equipment
As mentioned elsewhere, it is common for would-be divers
to walk into a dive shop and become intimidated by how many different
pieces of equipment there are. However, once you learn what is essential
and get a few dives under your belt, the other pieces of equipment start
to make more sense, and you can get a better sense for what you will
need and want. Moreover, after you purchase this equipment, scuba diving
becomes much less expensive sport.
Most diving kits for beginners will come with a snorkel, fins, a weight
belt and a diving mask. Once the diver has all of this equipment, underwater
movement will be much easier and safer.
From there, the diver has several additional equipment options. There
are dive computers, which help calculate your location and depth. Additionally,
buoyancy compensators and regulators are available. These pieces of
equipment give you more options for both where you can dive, and for
movement while under water.
