Dive boat FAQs
I am interested on participating in a group diving
session. Approximately how many other divers can I expect to be on the
trip with me?
Most dive boats will have anywhere from six to fifteen divers on them
at a time. The exact number depends on demand as well as on the specific
boat conductor with whom you are working. If you are ever concerned
about the number of people, you can always ask.
I already have scuba gear designed for a pool. Can I use this
to go diving?
No. Snorkeling gear designed for diving can double as more pedestrian
pool snorkeling gear, but it doesn’t work the other way around.
In order to dive, you will need snorkeling gear specifically designed
for diving.
I’ve never been diving before. What are some common mistakes
first-time divers make, so that I can avoid them?
For the most part, first-time divers are now led through by professional
divemasters and as a result diving is safe and easily navigable. However,
there are a few pet peeves that some first-timers don’t yet recognize.
Most of these are pretty much common knowledge. Show up on time, be
considerate of your fellow divers, and be mindful of your own gear.
Additionally, certain areas of most dive boats are designated as “dry
areas.” These areas are for storing wallets, cell phones, dry
towels, and so on. That is to say, they are not for storing wet suits
or anything else that’s wet. A little consideration can go a long
way toward improving the diving experience for everyone.
